BLUE HILL – Emma “Arlene” Eaton, 90, died Feb. 7, 2004, at a Penobscot healthcare facility. She was born March 18, 1913, in Blue Hill, the daughter of William P. “Pat” and Sarah E. “Nellie” (Padgett) Carter. In recent years she was active in the South Blue Hill Bible Study Group until she moved to the Penobscot Nursing Home, and there she enjoyed many activities, including Janet’s reading group. She made many friends throughout the years, including her care providers at the nursing home and received letters and visits from friends and family during her stay there. Arlene is survived by her son, Duane F. Eaton; and her daughter, Jane M. Gordon; three generations of grandchildren, as well as extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth B. Eaton; her son, Ronald V. Eaton; and a daughter-in-law, Freda C. Easton; a son-in-law, Wilford A. Gordon; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
