CALAIS – Emma Golding, 103 1/2, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at a Calais hospital. Emma was born Nov. 19, 1902, in Pembroke, daughter of the late Fred and Flora (Ashby) Burke. She was employed as a clerk at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, for many years. Emma was a member of the St. Croix Garden Club in Calais and was very talented playing the piano by ear. She enjoyed gardening and anything to do with nature, especially frogs. Emma was predeceased by her husband, James Golding; and two sisters, her twin, Laura Kendall and Marian Burke. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Baetz and husband, Donald, of Amherst, Ohio and Marjorie Clark of Georgetown, Mass.; two brothers, Leroy and Percy Burke, both of Robbinston; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Winnie Johnson and husband, Richard, of Robbinston. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in the Golding Cemetery in Perry.
