CARIBOU and LEWISTON Emma Guerrette Cyr, 95, died peacefully Sept. 23, 2004, at Lewiston. She was born May 10, 1909, in Limestone, the daughter of David and Sophie (Martin) Cote. She was educated in the Limestone schools and graduated from the Aroostook State Normal School (The University of Maine at Presque Isle). Emma taught grammar school for a number of years and following the death of her first husband, Henry Guerrette, she worked for Potato Service in Presque Isle for several years. After retiring, she married Roch Cyr, who also predeceased her. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church as well as the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Emma sang in the church choir and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the daughters of Isabella. She also volunteered at the Caribou Nursing Home and the Forget Me Not meal site. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Maynard and Sandra Guerrette of Bangor, Peter and Mary Guerrette of Westfield, Mass.; two daughters, Sr. Mona Guerrette, D.W. of Lewiston, Theresa Heath of Florence, Mass.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Muriel Guerrette of Frenchville; many nieces and nephews. Emma was predeceased by a son, Arnold. She will be sadly missed yet always remembered as “Life of the Party”, with a joie de vivre! Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
