EXETER, N.H. – Eric N. Ebbeson, 92, of Riverwoods Drive, formerly of Rye, N.H., died Friday, June 8, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Ebbeson was born March 1, 1915, in Bangor, the son of Arvid and Constance (Swanson) Ebbeson. The family consisted of two brothers and seven sisters. He married his wife of 59 years, Helen Selwood, July 27, 1941. She died in August 2000. He was a graduate of Bangor High School and was a professional musician and guitar teacher in the Bangor area until World War II. He moved to Portsmouth, N.H., to work as a draftsman at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, became an engineer and retired from the navy yard in 1973. Mr. Ebbeson raised his family in Rye, N.H. In the 1950s he served as president of the Portsmouth Community Concert Association. He was active in St. John’s Episcopal Church and later at Christ Church on the parish level, the diocesan level and was a delegate to many national Episcopal church conventions. In 1981, he and his wife were co-editors of a Seabury Press book, “Living Simply.” He lived at Riverwoods in Exeter, N.H., from its opening. Survivors include his son, Eric N. Ebbeson Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Hampton, N.H.; his daughter, Kristin Ebbeson and her partner, Craig Davis, of Rye, N.H.; four grandchildren, Gretchen Ebbeson of Avon, Colo., Christopher Ebbeson and his wife, Helen, of Cleveland, Stephanie Rouleau and her fianc?, Shawn Cordwell, of Oxford and Jeremy Rouleau and his girlfriend, Tamrah Zinn, of Somersworth, N.H.; a sister, June Bailey of Bangor; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 13, at Christ Episcopal Church, 1035 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, N.H.
