FORT KENT – Ernest “Ernie” Plourde, 79, died Dec. 29, 2007, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Fort Kent, the son of Aime and Leontine (Plourde) Plourde. Ernie was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Parish, Fort Kent. He was a faithful parishioner who felt at home in church and enjoyed many evenings of missions and other preachers who came to his parish. He enjoyed cutting his own firewood, planting a big vegetable garden and giving his potatoes and other vegetables to his children when they visited from Connecticut. You could always find a variety of flowers around his house. What he especially liked was fixing lawn mowers for other people. He also enjoyed hunting very much. Ernie worked at Marlin Rockwell Factory, Plainville, Conn., for 23 years, Fafner Co., for 2 1/2 years and had a landscaping business in Connecticut. When he retired he moved back to Fort Kent. Ernie was formerly married to Mrs. Lena (Lamarre) Plourde. He was predeceased by one son, Joseph Alden Plourde. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by three sons, Ernest R. Plourde and his wife, Debbie, of Andover, Conn., Douglas J Plourde and his wife, Charlene, of Avon, Conn., and Robert F Plourde of Southington, Conn.; six daughters, Janice Laderoute of Southington, Conn., Rachel O’Neal and her husband, Larry, of Southington, Conn., Geanna Simpson and her husband, Robert, of Bristol, Conn., Lisa Pelton and her husband, Michael, of Southington, Conn., Sandra Dizenzo and her husband, Jason, of Southington, Conn., and Cheryl Ann Plourde of Southington, Conn.; 15 grandchildren, Matthew and Michelle Plourde, Brittany and Jamison Laderoute, Clinton and Janelle O’Neal, Nicole and Eric Simpson, Michael, Mitch-ell and Mason Pelton, Collin and Julia Plourde, and Lindsay and Nicholas Dizenzo; one great-granddaughter, Madison Bentz; four brothers, Roy Plourde and his wife, Carol, of Topsham, Gilton Plourde and his wife, MiMi, of Griswald, Conn., Wallace Plourde and his wife, Sandy, of Manchester, Conn., and Elson Plourde and his wife, Annette, of Bristol, Conn.; six sisters, Phyllis Ded-ominicus of Portland, Bernice Roy and her husband, Roger, of Frenchville, Lillian Caron and her husband, Richard, of Bazrah, Conn., Carroll Pelletier of Ellsworth, Glenda Plourde of Van Buren and Lucy Martin and her husband, Ricky, of South Windsor, Conn.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Sylvio and Alton Plourde; and two sisters, Sylvia Levesque and Theresa Michaud. The family would like to thank the staff at Maine Medical Center, Portland and Northern Maine Medical Center, Fort Kent, for the wonderful care they gave Ernie and to all those who came to visit him or who called him. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, and 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday, Jan. 3, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held May 9, 2008, at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent.
