FRANKLIN – Ernest L. Butler Sr., 87, formerly of Eastbrook, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at a Bar Harbor health care facility. He was born June 22, 1920, in Eastbrook, the son of the late Leonard and Ruby (Springer) Butler. He was a self-employed farmer for many years. He was active within the town of Eastbrook as a selectman, school bus driver and performed snow removal for many years. He was a founding member and past chief of the Eastbrook Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a board member of the Washington-Hancock Cou-nty Association. Ernest was a former master of Greenwood Grange No. 363, Greenwood Mountain Pomona No. 26 and the Schoodic Grange. Ernest was a member of Eastbrook Baptist Church, Eastbrook Fish and Game Club and Eastbrook-Waltham Snowmobile Club. He was past president of Roaring Brook Campers Association and Penobscot Poultry Association. Ernest was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (Abbott) Butler in 1991. In addition to his first wife, he was also predeceased by three sisters and an infant brother. Ernest leaves behind his beloved wife, Margaret (Andrews) Butler; a son, Ernest L. Butler Jr. and wife, Marge, of Hancock, two daughters, Karen Call and husband, George, of Eastbrook and Susan Roderick and husband, James, of Norridgewock; several grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Eastbrook Baptist Church, Eastbrook, with Pastor Steve Sobel officiating. Burial will be after at Sunnyside Cemetery, Eastbrook.
