ORRINGTON – Erva M. Leighton, 83, died Jan. 3, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Orrington, the daughter of Fred and Lillian (Lane) Bunker. Erva attended Brewer schools and lived in Orrington throughout her life. She worked in the health care industry for many years. Erva loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed horses with her husband. She also enjoyed her time with the ladies in the Sunshine Club for Children. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Mitchell of Corona, Calif.; three sons, George Leighton Jr. and wife, Sally, of Helendale, Calif., William E. Leighton and wife, Judith, of Orrington, Kevin B. Leighton and wife, Amy, of Bath; six grandchildren, Vance Leighton, Vanessa Leighton, Debbie Joslyn and husband, Donald, Scott Leighton, Tyler Leighton, Theron Leighton, Andrew Leighton, Robert Mitchell and Sean Mitchell; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa and Makayla Joslyn; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, George Leighton in 1999. Friends are invited to visit with the family 10-11 a.m. Friday, Jan 5, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Davis, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, after the service.
