BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Estella “Mae” Bartlett passed away on Jan. 22, 2004, at the Gregory Wing in Boothbay Harbor. She was born on Feb. 8, 1910, in the town of Steuben, and was the daughter of George and Sadie Robinson. She lived in Corea most of her married life and moved to the Boothbay area in 1955, where she has resided since. In her younger years she knitted heads and bait bags for the wooden lobster traps, raised horses, turkeys, angora rabbits, baked and sold homemade doughnuts, and worked in the sardine factory in Prospect Harbor. For many years she was a caregiver and spent her winters in Florida, and her summers in Boothbay Harbor. She was a past member of the Grange in Corea and the VFW in Boothbay Harbor. Bingo was her favorite pastime. After losing most of her eyesight she still managed to play bingo at home with her family and friends. She was an animal lover and always had a pet to keep her company. She spent two years residing at the Boothbay Green in Boothbay and this past year she resided at the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor. Surviving are four children, Gerald E. Bartlett of Winter Haven, Fla., Dwinell D. Bartlett and wife, Mary, of Plant City, Fla., Alice Bailey and husband, David, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Nancy Williams and husband, Robert, of Boothbay and Plant City, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. There will be no visiting hours and a memorial service will be held in the spring at the family’s convenience. Donations in her name may be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb.
