SKOWHEGAN – Estelle E. Cook, 85, formerly of Greenville and Dover-Foxcroft, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Woodlawn Rehab and Nursing Center, Skowhegan. She was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Green-ville, the daughter of Winfield and Anna (Sheehan) Belmont. She was educated in Green-ville schools. She married Demar Cook, April 12, 1941, in Greenville. She worked for her parents at Belmont’s Restaurant, Greenville, as a waitress for many years. Estelle also was a homemaker for many years. She enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing, was a great cook and loved going for rides. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Delmar Cook of Skowhegan; one son, May-nard Cook and his wife, Ann, of Skowhegan; two grandsons, Mark and Marty Cook; two great-grandchildren, Trista and Brent Cook; one brother, Edward “Sonny” Belmont of Greenville, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Sabine “Bud” Belmont. Estelle’s family has requested that a private family service be held 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. Interment to be held at a later date at Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Augusta.
