BLUE HILL – Esther Weigt Bradley, 90, died peacefully Feb. 14, 2005, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born Jan. 2, 1915, in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of Viola Burga and Charles Harold Clark. She married Alfred Wilker Weigt in 1936, and for 39 years they were active participants in community, church and charitable organizations in Flushing, N.Y. Esther received the New York State Governor’s award for her support of the Girl Scouts of America. They shared a devotion to their family and travel, especially to the Mediterranean and their home in Spain. Esther moved to her summer home at the Candlewood Lake Club in New Milford, Conn., in 1977 and subsequently married Simeon Cole Bradley. After his death, she moved to the Parker Ridge Retirement Community in Blue Hill. At the center of Esther’s life were those she loved. She will be remembered for her dignity and generosity, and for keeping the art of letter writing alive. Esther is survived by her sister, Dorothy McMaster of Skaneateles, N.Y. She also leaves her daughter, Barbara Donaldson Clark and husband, William S. Clark, of Ellsworth; grandson, D. James Donaldson, wife, Susan, children, Zachary and Dane Araujo and Reese Elizabeth of Marion, Mass.; granddaughters, Marie Charlton, husband, Greg Charlton and great-grandsons, Ainsley Michael and Braden James of Tuscon, Ariz. and Joanna Belden, husband, Brian Belden and great-grandchildren, Blake Elise and Jackson Clark of Canton, Ohio. Other treasured family members are nephews, Peter, Andrew, Stephen and Robert McMaster and their families. Esther’s family wish to thank dear caregivers at Parker Ridge, Hancock County HomeCare and Hospice, volunteers of Hospice of Hancock County and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for adding precious quality to her last days. A memorial reception will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Parker Ridge. A service of remembrance will be held in early May at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Brookfield, Conn., followed by interment at Flushing Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.
