BANGOR – Ethel McCarty, 79, died May 27, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born May 16, 1929, in Bangor, daughter of George and Grace (Holmes) McCarty. Ethel had a great love for her family. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her dog, Elvis. She will always be remembered for her strong will and big heart. She is survived by her loving family; son, David McCarty and his wife, Cara, of Hermon; daughter, Stephanie Gray and her husband, Jaime, of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, George McCarty of Seattle; sisters, Eva Walton of New Jersey and Grace Couttee of California; grandchildren, Tabitha, Step-han, Channel, David, Samuel, Simone and Michael; great-grandchildren, Camden and Cara; and a special niece, Mildred Young. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Lorne, Samuel, Parker and John; and sisters, Georgie and her twin, Edith. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor, with the Rev. Peter Sprague, pastor of Columbia Street Baptist Church, officiating.
