MACHIAS – Ethel “Tare” G. Graham, 75, passed away unexpectedly, Oct. 4, 2007. She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Jonesport, the daughter of the late James A. and Bertha B. (Farnsworth) Gower. Ethel worked for Marshall Boarding Home, which became Marshall Health Care Facility as a C.N.A., finally retiring from there after many years. She was a member of Jacksonville Grange No. 358. Ethel served as a Den Mother for several years for the Cub Scouts. She was a very giving and generous person, and would knit mittens, stockings and slippers for family and those in need. She attended United Methodist Churches, Cutler and Jacksonville. Ethel lived for 10 years in Florida. While in Florida, she volunteered at the local nursing home. She enjoyed socializing with her friends, playing scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her children; daughter, Pam Jordan of Machias; sons, Duane Graham of Atlanta and Don Graham and his fiance, Terry Sceney, of Trenton; grandchildren, Tara Bartko and husband, Brian, of East Machias, Tammy Whalen, of North Carolina and Aaron Graham of Trenton; great-grandchildren, Josh Whalen of East Machias and Justin and Jake Whalen of Cherryfield; sister, Frances Beal of Marshfield; and special friends, Bill Jordan and Snookie Hatt; many nieces and nephews. Ethel was beloved by and will be missed by many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Eddie Graham in 1991; brothers and sisters, Bill Gower, Doris and Amanda Farnsworth and Edward, Edna and Thurman Berry; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias.
