FLORIDA – Eugene C. Scott ‘Gene’, 62, loving husband of Mary Elaine Scott, passed away on Sept. 14, 2004, at his home in Florida, with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer. He was born on Jan 26, 1942, in Waterville, to Albert E. and Belva M. (Osnoe) Scott. Gene retired to Florida after his retirement from Bowater Great Northern Paper Co. in 1999 with 39 years of faithful service. Gene enjoyed his family, grandchildren, gardening, wood crafts, camping, playing his guitar and singing. He was always helping others. He loved Florida and all his friends at Big Tree RV Park. Most of all he liked to tease. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, his sons, Eugene C. Scott Jr. and his wife, Helen M., of East Corinth and Steven P. Scott also of East Corinth; his mother, Belva M. Scott of Ellsworth; his brothers, Albert R. Scott and his wife, Polly, of Ellsworth, Rodney E. Scott of Medway and Wayne D. Scott and his wife, Carla, of Medway; his sister-in-law, Angie, of Millinocket; his grandchildren, Katelyn Mae Scott of East Millinocket and Jason Champion of East Corinth, several aunts, uncles and many cousins, also, his in-laws, the LaPorte family who thought the world of him. He was predeceased by his father, Albert E. Scott. There will be no viewing at the request of the deceased. There will be graveside services 11 a.m. Sept. 25, 2004, at the Medway Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice or the Katahdin Area Support Group. Family and friends will be meeting at the DAV Hall after the service.
