SURRY – Nathalie B. “Nat” (Bunker) Dow, 86, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at her home in Surry. She was born May 9, 1918, in North Sullivan, the daughter of Archie and Ella (Cummings) Bunker. Nat graduated as salutatorian of her high school class in Sullivan. For many years she and her husband owned and operated “Dow’s Taxi”, where she drove the “infamous” German spies that came ashore on the submarine at Mount Desert Ferry in Hancock. In the 1950’s, Nat and her husband Forrest “Pat” purchased Dow Pontiac in Ellsworth, a business they owned for nearly 40 years. When her first child came along, she devoted herself to raising him and later a daughter. Nat is survived by her daughter, Deborah and her husband, Peter, of Trenton; a daughter-in-law, Nancy; a sister, Sybil Linscott, of Virginia; three grandchildren, Albert Dow Jr. and his fianc?e, Theresa Adams, Suzanne Baez and her husband, Glen, and Sean Dow; two great-grandchildren, Chris and Tyler Baez; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband; her son, Albert Dow Sr.; her brother, Cecil; and sisters, Phyllis Harper and Olive Bunker. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery in Ellsworth. Gifts in memory of Nat may be sent to the Mary Dow Center, 50 Union St., Ellsworth, ME 04605.
