ST. JOHN PLANTATION – Eugene E. “Gene” Jandreau, 78, passed away Dec. 1, 2003, after a long illness. He was born Dec. 26, 1924, in St. Francis, the son of the late Eugene L. and Malvina (Michaud) Jandreau. In his younger years, Gene worked in the woods then at the Fort Kent sawmill. All the while he was an avid cribbage player, who enjoyed many long hours playing cards with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Emily (Berube) Jandreau of St. John; one son, Vern Jandreau of St. John; three daughters, Rena Thibodeau and her friend, Carey Daigle, of Fort Kent, Louella Wiken and her husband, Richard, of Hampden and Peggy Hasson and her husband, Mark of West Enfield; six grandchildren, Carrie Bouchard, Amy Hafer, Alex and Lindsey Wiken, Patrick and Matthew Hasson; two great-grandchildren, Mackayla and Alex Bouchard; two sisters, Julienne Ouellette of St. Francis and Bernice Melanson of Lewiston; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Aurelle and John Richard Jandreau; two sisters, Helen Jandreau and Delia Jandreau and one great-grandson, Matthew Jandreau. Friends may call at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent, 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday until time of departure of St. John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the St. John Catholic Church, St. John, with the Rev. Claude Gendreau officiating. Spring burial will be held May 14, 2003, in the parish cemetery. Those who wish may donate in his memory to the Eugene E.
