STONINGTON – Eugene F. Knowlton, 84, died Thursday Dec. 1, 2005, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born July 5, 1921, the son of Karl and Beatrice Knowlton, one of seven children. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II, spending most of his time in the India/China area of the Asian Theatre. He was a member of Community of Christ, Stonington serving in the office of Deacon. He retired in 1985 after a number of years at Billings Diesel and Marine. He then became summer caretaker of the Church Campgrounds at Walkers Pond for several years. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four sons, Brain, Brent, Kevin and Percival; four grandsons, Ben, Mike, Kenneth and Ian; and one very special granddaughter, Emmi his “Princess”. He is also survived by a brother, William, wife, Celia, of Arizona, Lawrence of Deer Isle and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Community of Christ, Stonington.
