BANGOR – E. Doris A. Stephens, 90, wife of the late George Stephens Jr., died July 15, 2006, at her home. She was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Prentiss, the daughter of Ralph and Rebecca (King) Averill. She graduated from Farmington and University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in education and did graduate work at the University of Texas. She taught school in Haynesville, Prentiss, Derby, South Portland, Orono, Hampden and Bangor. She is survived by two sisters, Esther “Pep” Boyington and her husband, Roscoe, of Gorham and Frances Withee of Westbrook; several nieces and nephews, including special nieces and nephews, Gail, Bob, Jim, Linda and Bev. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at the Belden Cemetery, Prentiss with the Rev. Linda Hatch officiating. Those who wish may make donations to a charity of one’s choice.
