MATTAWAMKEAG – Eug-enia V. Ambrose, 81, died July 4, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Medway, the daughter of Rudolph “Bud” and Vera (Spinney) York. Eugenia took care of her family all of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by Thornton Austin, her companion for 42 years; four children, Eugene C. Ambrose of Spirit Lake, Idaho, Patricia Putnam and her husband, Ronald “Buster” of Medway, Pamela Ambrose, and Alvin Philbrook and his wife, Irene, all of Mattawamkeag; three grandchildren, Alvin Philbrook Jr. and his wife, Cindy, Ernest “Todd” Philbrook and Pauline Wheeler and her husband, Shane; and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves close friends, Judy and Ivan Gordon. She was predeceased by a son, Ernest Philbrook Jr. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Regginal Adams, officiating. Interment will be in Mattawamkeag Cemetery at a later date.
