BROOKLYN, Conn. – Eunice Harper, of Creamery Brook Apartments, passed unexpectedly to be with God Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, Conn. Eunice was the daughter of Obed F. Millett and Gerda Weeks Millett of Palmyra. She attended one-room schoolhouses in Palmyra and graduated in 1940 from Hartland Academy. She went on to graduate from nursing school at Sister’s of Charity Hospital, Waterville and was a registered nurse until her death. She enlisted in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of first lieutenant and served in Munich, Germany, during World War II, where she met her husband, Louis E. Harper and married in 1946. Eunice worked at Scott Webb and Plummer Memorial Hospitals and other central Maine hospitals for many years and for more than 20 years for the state of Maine as a public health nurse. In addition her husband, she is survived by a daughter and her husband, Janet and Larry Morrissette of Hallowell; her son and his wife, the Rev. Lou and Susan Harper of Griswold, Conn.; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends; her brother, Tom; and sister, Virgina. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at First Congregational Church of Griswold, Conn., where Eunice was a member. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Memorial Fund, First Congregational Church of Griswold, 878 Voluntown Road, Griswold, CT 06351. Interment will be at Palmyra Village Cemetery in the spring. Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home, Jewett City, Conn., is in charge of arrangements.
