EVA H. MAXCY OWLS HEAD – Eva H. Maxcy, 91, of Owls Head, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004. For the past five years Eva lived at the St. Mark’s Home for Women in Augusta, visiting her Owls Head home frequently. Eva was born April 20, 1912, in Owls Head, the youngest daughter of Francis J. and Eva Lambert Hunter. She was a graduate of Rockland High School and later worked for the New England Telephone Co. Christmas Day 1934, Eva married Horace P. Maxcy in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Betty and Arnold Nelson. During their 51-year marriage, Eva and Horace lived in several Maine towns as Horace pursued a career in school administration. Eva was predeceased by her husband, Horace, in 1986; her brother, Roy; and sisters, Ruth, Doris, Sarah, Gladys, and Betty. Eva is survived by David and his wife, Janet, of Mapleton, and Horace “Brud” and his wife, Majorie, of Sidney. She was grandmother to Joel, Stuart, Allen, Brendan, and Patrick Maxcy, Susan Whipkey, Elizabeth Humphrey, Karen Pearson and Kimberly Maxcy. She was great-grandmother to Hunter and Dayton Maxcy, Emma and Laurel Whipkey, Naomi and Leila Humphrey; and many nieces and nephews. A summer memorial service for family and friends is being planned.
