MICHAEL P. BROOKS AUGUSTA – Michael P. Brooks, 19, of Augusta, died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident early Friday morning, Jan. 9, 2004, in Washington. He was born Jan. 10, 1984, in Rockport, the son of Peter Brooks and Nancy (Sukeforth). He grew up in Washington and attended Medomak Valley and Cony High Schools. Michael was working as a heavy equipment operator with his uncle, Larry Sukeforth in Jefferson. He was also working towards the requirements of a commercial driver’s license and had thoughts of becoming a counselor. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on engines. He is survived by his father, Peter Brooks of Union; his mother, Nancy Lake and her husband, Mark, of Augusta; his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Marilyn Sukeforth of Washington and Bushnell, Fla.; his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Mildred Brooks of Union; a sister, Melissa Swiger of Washington; three step-sisters, Melinda, Stephanie and Rebecca Lake, all of Augusta; and a niece, Iverie Swiger. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta. Relatives and friends may visit from 1 p.m. until service time.
