WESTFIELD – The family of the late Eva M. Ireland are sad to announce her passing from this life Oct. 20, 2005, only three short days before her 98th birthday. She was born Eva Myrtle Young Oct. 24, 1907, in Caribou. She was the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Stewart) Young. After the death of her mother, Margaret, she was lovingly raised by her Uncle Gleasher and Aunt Eva Kilcollins in Westfield. Eva attended Westfield schools and was a 1927 graduate of the Aroostook State Normal School of Presque Isle. She then taught school for a short period of time in Sherman Mills. In 1930, she married the love of her life, Glen E. Ireland, together they founded and pastored the Westfield United Pentecostal Church from 1946-1970. Eva served as secretary-treasurer and Sunday school teacher for many years. She is survived by a son, Reginald Stuart Ireland and his wife, Joan, of Westfield; a daughter, Darla Rae Christensen and her husband, Dwayne, of Windsor, Ontario. She will be lovingly remembered by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Ethel Condon of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by an infant son, Laurie; her husband, the Rev. Glen E. Ireland; three brothers, Raymond and Stewart Young, and Frank Kilcollins; two sisters, Hilda Ireland and Fern Fitzgerald. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the First United Pentecostal Church, 53 Wilson St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the church with the Rev. Dwayne Christensen officiating. Interment will be in Marshall Cemetery, Westfield. Donations in her memory may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 190, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
