VEAZIE – Etta Honey, wife of the late Harry E. Honey Jr., died peacefully Oct. 20, 2005, after a brief illness. She was born June 10, 1911, in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of William and Hattie Elliott. She attended Stockton Springs and graduated from Stockton Springs High School then moved to Orono. Etta worked for Parks Hardware, Orono. She and her husband owned and operated Spanglers Grocery store on Broad Street until 1964. After that she worked for Boyd & Noyes Jewelry, then finally DeGrasse Jewelers in Orono. Etta was a member of the Veazie Congregational Church and an active member of the Veazie Senior Citizens where she served as secretary for many years. Etta was also a volunteer for Meals for Me and a member of Good Cheer Chapter No. 87 OES, Orono. She is survived by a son, Dennis Honey and his wife, Donna, of Bangor; a daughter, Maureen Moss and her husband, Wayne, of Shickshinny, Pa.; five grandchildren, Dennis E. Honey Jr. and his wife, Katy, of Bangor, Brian Stuart of Lewiston, Scott Stuart and his wife, Lisa, of Arrowsick, Angelia Allabaugh and her husband, Steven, of Wyalusing, Pa. and David Moss and his wife, Janine, of Thornhurst, Pa.; 10 great-grandchildren, Dustin and Tyler, David and Abby, Ashley, Christina, Derek, Megan, Derek, Dustin; several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Patricia Moore, pastor of the Veazie Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Veazie.
