WEST TREMONT and ROANOKE, Va. – Evelyn Adelaide Scammon Jordan was taken home to be with Our Lord on Nov. 12, 2003. Evelyn was born May 28, 1916, the daughter of Bridget and Edgar Scammon. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working in her gardens and taking walks in the woods with her grandchildren. She and Rev. Jordan were members of the Columbia Street Baptist Church in Bangor. A past member of the Tremont Volunteer Fire Department Aux., Evelyn assisted the auxiliary in fundraisers to build the town’s fire department. She enjoyed traveling with her family all over the United States to see her children, grandchildren and brothers and sisters. In addition to her parents Evelyn was predeceased by her devoted husband, Rev. Isaac Edward Jordan; and several sisters and brothers. She is survived by her children, Laurie Neal Jordan and his wife, Blanche, of Pasadena, Texas; her daughter, Caro Jordan Gallagher and her husband, Richard (Dan) Gallagher, of Roanoke, Va.; and her son, Richard Franklin Jordan of Bar Harbor; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Ashmore-Jordan of Blue Hill. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Richard Edward Jordan and his wife, Renee and their children, Zachary Isaac, Caleigh Sobhan, Camryn Nichole, and Cyndy Jewel; Susan Jordan Schnieder and her husband, Russell, and their children, Gordon Russell, Devin James; Joli-Diane Gallagher and her fianc‚, Don Nolin and her daughter, Emilly Elizabeth Hamon; Angel Jordan Hochman and her husband, Matthew Hochman and their children, Ally Desiree Jordan, Robyn Samantha Hochman; Holly Jordan Norris and her husband, Christopher Norris, their daughter, Hannah Sadie; Misty Dawn Jordan and Dennis White. Memorial service will be 12 Noon on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at the chapel at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta followed by graveside services where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, Rev. Isaac Edward Jordan in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Oakeys Funeral Service and Crematory, Roanoke, Va.
