CORINTH – Evelyn C. Duthie, 96, the wife of the late Leo Duthie, died May 16, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility after a long illness. She was born March 1, 1911, in Caribou, the daughter of Henry and Delina (Langley) Cote. Mrs. Duthie attended schools in Caribou, graduating from Caribou High School in 1928, a member of the first graduating class in what was then the new high school at Teague Park. In 1936, she married the love of her life, Leo Duthie. They had no children. Evelyn and Leo worked in Connecticut the first years of their married life, later moving to Maine in the 1940s, owning and operating a farm together in Charleston. In later years, they moved to Corinth where they continued to work together selling real estate. Leo died in 1999 at age 90 after the couple had spent 63 years together. In later life, Evelyn enjoyed gardening, bridge, and made braided rugs and quilts. She loved to sew and made a lot of her own clothes. Surviving are one sister, Lorraine Cote of Fort Kent; a special sister-in-law, Eva Theriault of Caribou; and many special nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by nine sisters, Gertie Corriveau, Alma Holmes, Dora Soucy, Rose Dumais, Yvonne Damboise, Dinah Belanger, Albertine Carney, Jeanette Bell, and Irene Damboise; and six brothers, Soloman, Albert, Celestine, Leon, Sylvio and Cyrias Cote. Friends may call 7-8 p.m. Sunday, at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, with Pastor Cynthia Nickerson officiating. A graveside committal service and burial will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.
