ABBOT – Erwin E. “Mac” McAllister, 90, went to eternal rest, May 16, 2007, at Hibbard’s Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born April 22, 1917, to Charles Edward Sherman McAllister and Gladys S. Chadbourne McAllister of Moscow, Maine. He was a kind and gentle man who gave much to his family and community, having served on Abbot Board of Selectman, the County ASCS Board of Directors, and was a Boy Scout troop leader. He served many years with the Maine Inland Fish & Wildlife Department, as game warden. Through retirement, he took great joy in his family and working his small farm. As a longtime member of American Tree Farm system, his woodland bolding were of great pride and many hours of enjoyment to him. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Janice A. McAllister of Abbot; and his five sons, Chris Harrington of Greenville, Mike Harrington and family of Readfield, Steve Harrington and family of Greenville, Alvin McAllister and family of Abbot, and Brad McAllister and family of Pittsfield; his granddaughter by first marriage, Debbie Gamache and family of Greenville; brothers, Miland Gilbert McAllister and family of Otisfield, Urban Wallace McAllister and family of Solon, and Theron Calvin McAllister and family of Bristol, N.H.; and a sister, Mauna S. Porter and family of Standish. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Loren Stub McAllister and Telford Leslie McAllister; and a sister, Myrna G. Keaton.
