GREEN LAKE and BREWER – Evelyn (Clukey) Harding, 92, died Oct. 30, 2004, at a Brewer healthcare facility. She was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Sangerville the daughter of George and Nora (Pullyard) Clukey. She was educated in Sangerville schools and Beals Business College in Bangor. She married Harold W. Harding of Brewer in 1938. Evelyn worked for many years in Straw & Martin Insurance offices and Draper Corporation, both in Guilford. After World War II, she lived for 39 years in Brewer and in 1985 moved to her new year-round home at Green Lake, where she lived until the time of her death. Evelyn greatly enjoyed and spent much of her spare time knitting, crocheting and in other hand craft work. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Brewer and a member of the Ladies Altar Society and for many years a member and officer of Postal Ladies Auxiliary Groups. In addition to her husband, Harold of Green Lake, she is survived by one brother, Kenneth Clukey of Bangor. Also surviving are 14 very close special nieces, and nephews, Frank Dawes and his wife, Karlyn, Nora and her husband, Mark Lovell, Suzanne Folsom and her companion, Tony, Joann and her husband, Danny Gallant, George Clukey and his companion, Linda, all of Bangor, Nancy and her husband, Richard Hall, of Sangerville, Roger Clukey and his wife, Barbara, of Madison, Linda and her husband, Reed Nesbit, of Topsham, Frederick Davis and his wife, Alice, of Monson, Michael Davis and his wife, Paula, of Guilford, Jacquelin and her husband, Richard Gettis, of Salem, Ore., Prudence and her husband, Roger Bair, of Mercer Island, Wash., Marsha Timmins of Winslow, and James Clukey of San Diego, Calif. She was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence and Marshall; and sisters, Eleanor Dawes, Marjorie Clukey, and Bernice Davis. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Brewer with Rev. Richard E. Harvey, celebrant. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer following the interment.
