MARSHFIELD – Evelyn F. Conlin, 80, went home to be with her Lord March 29, 2008, at Marshall Health Care Facility, with her loving husband by her side after an extended illness. She was born June 2, 1927, in Machias, the daughter of the late Willliam A. and Lena (Blyther) Preston. During her life Evelyn work-ed as a cook at the University of Maine – Machias and also at Marshall Health Care Facility. She later worked as a certified nurses’ aide at Marshall’s. Eve-lyn was an avid walker and would walk in the Cystic Fibrosis and Blueberry Festival Walks. She would most always come in first for her age category. Friends and family will always remember fondly Eve-lyn’s cooking. Evelyn adored her grandchildren and loved the time she spent with them. Evelyn was a longtime member of Machias Valley Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Walter R. Conlin; children, Marilyn L. Schoppee of Machias, Howard A. Conlin of New York, Candace Greenwood and husband, Edward, of Greene; many grandchildren and great-grand-children; one brother, Stephen Preston and wife, Mary, of Machias; many nieces, nephews, special friends and her church family. She was predeceased by one brother, five sisters; and a very special son-in-law, Ken Schoppee. The family would like to especially thank the staff at Marshall Health Care Facility for the excellent care that they provided Evelyn. Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias. A time of fellowship will be held 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Machias Valley Baptist Church gym. A funeral service will be immediately afterward 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor John Sprague officiating. Burial will be private for family.
