BELFAST – Glendon R. Black, 78, passed away March 29, 2008, at Waldo County Hospital. He was born May 23, 1929, in Troy, the son of Robert C. Black and Nellie L. Oakes. Glendon worked in Rhode Island in the early ’50s on a large dairy farm. Then he came back in the early ’60s to take care of his mother. The 40 plus years since, he was a caretaker of many resident’s estates in Northport and Belfast. Glendon was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice G. Seekins in 1992; and by a brother, Carleton Black of Beryl, Pa. He is survived by two stepsisters, Lorraine Cook of Lenox, Mass., and Irene Blow of Vincent, Ohio. He is also survived by loving family members, Leone Harriman, Fern D. Barton, Frederick W. Barton and Leon C. Barton; five granddaughters, Michelle Patten-Prescott, Mel-issa A. Staples, Jessica Barton, Tina Cook and Crystal Barton; four great-grandsons, Dominic and Cody Williams, Avery Kreamer and Kyle Barton; and a special little companion, “Miss Lady.” A special thank you to the nurses at Tall Pines and Waldo County Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
