DEXTER – Evelyn P. Bruce, 93, died Nov. 13, 2006, at a Dexter health care facility. She was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Dexter, daughter of Harold and Caro (Percival) Crawford. She graduated from Coney High School, Augusta and then Bates College, Lewiston. She taught school for more than 30 years beginning in Guilford, then Mechanic Falls, Unity, and retired after 14 years at Deering High School, Portland. She was a member of the North Windham Church. She is survived by two sons, Duncan and his wife, Heidi Bruce, of New York and Graham Bruce of California; two brothers, Robert Crawford and his wife, Retha, of Dexter and Charles Crawford and his wife, Barbara, of Massachusetts; a sister, Donna Lagasse and her husband, James, of Dexter; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman T. Bruce; a brother, Kenneth; and a sister, Betty. There will be no public services at this time.
