MATTAWAMKEAG – Evelyn Robichaud Scott, 92, wife of the late Herman Scott, died Oct. 11, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born April 19, 1912, in Chester, the daughter of Jacob and Alice (McCafferty) Robichaud. She was a graduate of Mattawamkeag High School in 1931. Married July 12, 1930, she and Herman were life-long residents of Mattawamkeag, where they owned and operated a general store, Scott’s Esso, for approximately 35 years. She was well-known for her Italian sandwiches which were sold in Penobscot and Aroostook counties for many years. Her favorite hobby was her plants and flowers. Over the years, she had been active in both St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Winn and the United Methodist Church in Mattawamkeag. She was Past Noble Grand of Ivaloo Rebekah Lodge No. 80 of Lincoln, and Past Worthy Matron of Pine Grove Chapter No. 55 of Mattawamkeag. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Wyman and husband, Richard, of Springfield, Va.; grandsons, Jason Wyman and wife, Miriam, of Naperville, Ill.; and great-granddaughters, Annlouisa and Jacquelyn, and Aaron Wyman and wife, Sara, of Baltimore, Md.; and great-granddaughter, Julia; a brother, Vernon Robichaud and wife, Norma, of Mattawamkeag; sisters-in-law, Annette Robichaud of Brewer and Yvette Robichaud of West Springfield, Mass.; nieces, Betty Schick of Lincoln, Darlene Oakes of Wallingford, Conn., and Patricia Dexter of Brewer; a nephew, David Robichaud of Ashland, N.H.; an uncle, Edward McCafferty Sr. of Mattawamkeag and several cousins. In addition to her parents and her husband, Herman, who died Nov. 15, 1994; she was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence Robichaud and Robert Robichaud. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Mattawamkeag United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Mattawamkeag Cemetery.
