BANGOR – Evelyn Taylor Grant, 94, died Dec. 4, 2004, at a local nursing facility. She was born Aug. 10, 1910, in Winterville, the daughter of Elijah and Mary (Gagnon) Taylor. Evelyn was a resident of Ansonia, Conn. for 30 years where she worked as a secretary at Sikorsky Helicopters and as a seamstress out of her home. After her husband retired they moved to Portage and then to Bangor in 1981. Surviving are her son, William H. Grant Jr. and his wife, Esther, of Milford, Conn.; one daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Wood of Middletown, Conn.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, all living in Connecticut. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Grant. Friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York St., Bangor, with the Very Rev. Richard McLaughlin, pastor, Celebrant. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
