EVERETT L. MURCHISON LINCOLN and ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Everett Levi Murchison, 84, husband of Joyce Murchison, passed away Sept. 17, 2008, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born June 8, 1924, in Lee, the son of Levi and Beatrice (Hanscom) Murchison. Everett was a 1942 graduate of Lee Academy. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He worked for Ford Motor Co., for 41 years, retiring in 1991. Everett was an active hunter, fisherman and a basketball referee in his younger days. He was an avid golfer and an avid Red Sox fan. He attended Lincoln Congregational Church for the past 10 years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Kathryn (Whalen) Murchison; three brothers, Larry, Kenneth and Clifton; and a stepgrandson, Thomas Preble. In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is survived by three sons and their wives, Robert “Bick” and Sue, Roger “Tim” and Dottie, and Ronald and Rhonda, all of Lincoln; four stepchildren, Suzanne and Orland Shorey of Burlington, Thomas Preble and Angela of Northport, Peter Preble of South Portland and Ellen and Ralph Thurlow of Lowell; grandchildren, Jennifer Cousins, Bick Murchison, Jason Murchison, Timmy Murchison, Devin Lanahan, Morgan Leighton, Katie Sereyko and Chad Thornton, stepgrandchildren, Rachel Kilby, Amy and Jennifer Shorey, Emily Callahan and Leigh Thurlow; three sisters, Irene Barbour of Fayetteville, N.C., Edie Wilson of Roanoke, Va., and Vivian Crocker of Trumbull, Conn.; 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lee.
