MEDDYBEMPS – Everett R. Gillespie, 83, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at his home. Everett was born March 17, 1924, in Meddybemps, the son of the late Robert and Bessie (Perkins) Gillespie. After graduating from Calais Academy, he worked for Georgia Pacific 24 years before leaving to work on the family potato and blueberry farm, eventually establishing his own Gillespie Blueberry Farm. He believed in hard work and did so until his last days. He loved to hunt, fish and grow a vegetable garden. He is survived by two daughters, Frances A. Cammack of Bangor and Nancy A. Hanson and her husband, David Brown, of Red Beach; sisters, Hilda Crosby of Cooper, Ruth Woods and Joyce Brown, both of Meddybemps; companion, Eleanor Clark and their canine companion, Heidi; five grandchildren, Ricki Morrill, Troy Hanson, Fonda Thibodeau, Joshua Scearbo, and Culley Thibodeau; seven great-grandchildren, Sydney, Natashia, Alexis, Morgan, Mc-Kenna, Everett and Frederick; nephews, Dennis, Chick, Pete, Mike and Joey; nieces, Lisa and Theresa. He was predeceased by his first wife, Effie (Perkins); parents, Robert and Bessie; brothers, Milford, Charles and Dale; and a grand-daughter, Tanya Thibodeau. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Meddybemps Cemetery with Pastor Rolfe Flood officiating.
