GLENBURN – F. Edward Smart Jr., 84, went home to be with his beloved Savior, June 21, 2007. He was born March 21, 1923, in Seboeis Plantation, the son of Forrest E. Smart Sr. and Carrie Freese Smart. Edward was a member of the Howland United Methodist Church for 65 years and served as lay leader for 30 years. He was active in the Evangelical Covenant Church of Glenburn. He helped form Tres Dias of Maine. He served as first assessor for Seboeis Plantation for 60 years. Edward was a talented fiddle player and loved to share his music at nursing homes, church, family gatherings and jam sessions. He was a man who deeply touched the lives of everyone he met, whether for a moment or for a lifetime. He deeply loved the Lord and served Him in any way he could. He was predeceased by a sister, Olive Smart. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Georgia Brown Smart; daughters and husbands, Tina and Glenn Jakacky, Susan and Clyde McKinnon, Carrie and David Cooper; a son and wife, Aaron Smart and Roberta; grandchildren, Crista, Sharla, Randee, Morgan, Rachael, Sarah, Matthew, Amanda, Cristal, Dylan, Robert, and Juston; great-grandchildren, Logan, Dawson, Avery, Colby, Tyler, Kaylee, Cooper, Brianna, and Justin. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Aug. 5, at Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church, Hudson Road, Glenburn, with Pastor Greg DuBois and Pastor Maria Guereca officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Glenburn Covenant Church’s Handicap Bathroom Fund. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
