HULL’S COVE – Fabronia “Phoebe” Agnes Macul died peacefully 7:50 a.m. Jan. 21, 2008, at her home. She was born Jan. 21, 1915, in Salem, Mass., the daughter of Bronislaw and Anastazja (Trczinska) Antoszewski. She graduated from Salem High School in 1932, and Emmanuel College, Boston in 1936, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French. She married Henry L. Macul, June 23, 1941. Fabronia was an accomplished pianist and loved the theater. She had a special interest in literature, was an avid reader and a lifelong supporter of Catholic overseas missions. She moved to Bar Harbor in 1944, when her husband was stationed in the Philippines during World War II. She lived at the Porter Farm, Crooked Road, Hull’s Cove, and worked at Jackson Laboratory until her husband came home from the U.S. Navy in 1946. Mrs. Macul was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Church. In 1964, she and her husband purchased F.V. Goss Co., 195 Main St., which they ran as Henry L. Macul Interiors successfully from 1964 to 1986, when they retired. Mrs. Macul is survived by her children, Abbot Joel Peter Macul, OSB of Newton, N.J., Elizabeth Macul of Hull’s Cove, Mary Macul of Bath and Louise Macul of Singapore; five grandchildren, Daphne, Noel, Anastazya, Tamara and Phoebe; four great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Rianna, Alexander and Yurei; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, in 1996; and her siblings, Chester, Casimir and Amelia. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Holy Redeemer Church, with Abbot Joel Macul presiding. Burial will be at a later date at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
