BRIDGEWATER – H.M. Cates Finemore 72, wonderful husband, father and grandfather, died Jan. 20, 2008, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born March 17, 1935, in Bridgewater, the son of Louis F. and Mertelle (Grant) Finemore. He graduated from Bridgewater Classical Academy in 1953 and then attended Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. H.M served in the U.S. Army after marrying his wife of 47 years, J. Patricia (Sargent) Finemore. He went home to Bridgewater, where he made his living in the forest industry for more than 40 years. He loved to socialize and especially enjoyed spending time talking with folks at the local bakery. Surviving him, in addition to his wife, is a son, H.M. Cates Finemore II; a daughter, Helena Antworth; grandchildren, Louis Finemore, Katie Finemore, Rickey Antworth and Lauren Antworth, all of Bridge-water; several nieces and nephews; also special friends, Murray Drisko and Richard Peasley. A graveside service will be conducted at Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater, later in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.
