SWANVILLE – Fannie Joyce (Clements) Brazier, 78, passed away July 12, 2006, at her summer home in Swanville, after a brief illness. She was born May 10, 1928, in Searsport, the second daughter of Charles M. Clements and Margaret M. Littlefield. Fannie attended the Swanville Greeley School and later the Crosby High School in Belfast, graduating in 1945. She attended Farmington State Teachers College, earning her bachelor’s degree, and later attaining her master’s degree at the University of Maine in Orono. A lifelong teacher, her career choice took her to many places. Fannie taught school in Bath, Berlin, Conn., Belfast, Swanville, New Fairfield, Conn., University of Maine at Orono, and lastly at Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan. After having touched so many lives, Fannie retired from teaching in 1985. A fabulous cook; Fannie enjoyed wood working, gardening, reading, genealogy, Red Sox baseball and spending time with her large family. Fannie is survived by three children and their spouses, a son, Jeffrey Brazier and wife, Lourdes, of Searsport, two daughters, Jennifer M. and husband Jack Smith Sr., of Ridgeville, S.C., Judith B. and husband Jay C. Howard, of Morrill; a stepdaughter, Lydia Z. and husband, Dennis Nuesmeyer, of Mahomet, Ill.; a stepson, Dr. Cressey Brazier and wife, Teresa, of East Holden; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Brazier of Biddeford, Elijah and Josiah Brazier of Searsport, Jerica and Crystal Smith of Ridgeville, S.C. and June and Jenna Howard of Morrill; seven step-grand-children, Ian and J J Nuesmeyer of Illinois, Cressica Brazier of Beijing and Shireen Brazier of Oregon, Kristen Bower of California, Jack Smith Jr. of South Carolina and Jamie Smith of South Carolina; five siblings and their spouses, Adelaide and husband, Ashley Gray, of Searsport, Rita Stone of Searsport, Judith and Charles Packer of Avon, Conn., Steve Clements Sr. of Swanville and Cynthia and Gary Brasslett of Medway; two sisters-in-law, Marta Clements of West Paris and Jackie Clements of West Enfield; and an extended family of nieces and nephews. Fannie is predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Everett, John, Nicholas and Sherman Clements; and one grandson, Jeremy Smith. Friends and family are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 17.
