EASTON – Fern E. Ladner, 78, died March 2, 2007, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born April 26, 1928, in Limestone Siding, New Brunswick, the daughter of Thomas and Melba (Dixon) O’Neal. She was a dedicated mother, who lived for her children. Fern was well known for her cake decorating ability. She was a gifted cook who would make homemade donuts and bread for her family. Never a complainer, you would never know she felt bad. She suffered the loss of her loving husband, Earl Ladner Sr., in 1985; and her eldest son, Earl “Sonny” Ladner Jr., in 1979, yet she always stayed strong for her remaining children. Although we have lost the matriarch of our family, she leaves a legacy of love to her children and we will greatly miss her. Her sister, Florence O’Neal, also had predeceased her. Surviving her are sons, Arthur Ladner Sr. and his wife, Candace, of Presque Isle, Ernest Ladner and his wife, Nina, of Bowdoinham, Randy Ladner and his wife, Allyn, and Archie Ladner, all of Easton; daughters, Bonnie Sandoval and her husband, Rudy, of Pearland, Texas, and Linda Curtis and her husband, Scott, of Arundel; brothers, Mark and Everett O’Neal, both of Limestone Siding, New Brunswick; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; special friends, Pauline Moran and Marjorie Corey; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Matthew Maxwell officiating. Relatives and friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. A spring interment will be at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that gifts in her memory be made to the Steven Perry Scholarship Fund, care of Easton High School, Easton, ME 04740.
