HAMLIN – Fernand I. Cyr, 71, died unexpectedly Nov. 26, 2003, at a Caribou hospital. He was born April 4, 1932, in Hamlin, the son of Walter and Mary Ann (Cyr) Cyr. He was employed as a welder and fabricator for many years. Fernand was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a life member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He was very involved in his parish at St. Joseph in Hamlin and very active through the years in many Legion functions. He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Cecile B. (Pelletier) Cyr of Hamlin; two sons, Thomas W. Cyr of Biddeford; Mark D. Cyr and his wife, Mary Jane, of Hampton, N.H.; four daughters, Marie Christianson and her husband, Floyd, of Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, Canada, Jeannette Theriault and her companion, Gerard Pelletier, of Madawaska, Pauline Laroche and her husband, David, Norma Donovan and her husband, Shawn, all of Biddeford; two sisters, Emelda Cyr of Saco and Pauline Belanger of Portland; three brothers, Cleophas Cyr of Clearwater, Fla., Elie Cyr of Bowmansville, Pa., and Cyprian Cyr of Bloomfield, Conn.; 17 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Relatives and friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
