CARIBOU – Fernand Louis Beaupr?, 83, died peacefully April 5, 2007, at his daughter’s home, in Loma Linda, Calif. He had been courageously battling metastatic cancer for several months and was living with his daughter in Southern California. Ferd was born July 28, 1923, in North Caribou, to Clara (Longlais) and Wilfred Beaupr? at the Beaupr? farm. He graduated from Caribou High School in 1942, where he was a member of the track and cross-country ski teams. During World War II he served in the Philippines with the 43rd Infantry and was in Japan during its occupation. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Ferd was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he, both of his parents and all of his children were baptized. He served as a Eucharistic minister and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He married Isabelle Violette, June 28, 1948. The couple lived on their farm in North Caribou for 58 years, adjacent to his parents’ farm, where Ferd was born. He farmed potatoes for several years and worked at Loring Air Force Base as a heavy equipment operator for 16 years. Additionally, he worked as a diesel mechanic and carpenter. His family and friends knew him as a person who could fix anything and who would help anyone, while always wearing a smile. He enjoyed gardening, working with stained glass and wood, and watching and feeding the many birds around his home. Ferd leaves behind his loving wife, Isabelle; son and daughter-in-law; Lester and Louise Beaupr? of Caribou; three daughters and one son-in-law, Cynthia Beaupr? of Fresno, Calif., Nancy and Bill Coffey of Clovis, Calif., and Pat Beaupr? of Loma Linda, Calif.; five grandchildren, Jason Beaupr?, Jill Beyeler, Kristopher LaMar, Ryan LaMar and Justin Coffey; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delmer Beaupr? and his wife, Gerry, of Romeo, Mich., and Roger Beaupr? and his wife, Liz, of Holland Patent N.Y.; three sisters, Rolande Belanger of Arkport, N.Y., Edwina Lorenzo and her husband, Lawrence, of Rochester, N.Y., and Doris Beaupr? of Rochester, N.Y. There are also many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, who remember him as a wonderful, loving man. He was predeceased by his twin sister, Fernande Condon; two other sisters, Leola Gagnon and Theresa McLaughlin; four brothers, Reney, Ivan, Roland and Francis. A memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on a date that will be announced later. Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou.
