BREWER – Florence L. Gilmore, 97, died April 5, 2007, at a Bangor health care center. She was born July 16, 1909, in Brewer, the daughter of Everett and Sarah (Philbrick) York. Florence was a longtime resident of Brewer and worked with her husband for several years at Norris Printing Co., in downtown Bangor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Brewer, and was also a member of the Bangor Nature Club, the Brewer Garden Club and the Esther Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are one daughter, Louise M. Cust and her husband, Robert, of Orrington; one stepdaughter, Shirley Wing and her husband, Forrest, of Michigan; two grandchildren, James Cust and his wife, Robin, of Stonington and Jean Healy and her husband, Sean, of Pennsylvania; two stepgranddaughters, Karen and Kathleen of Michigan; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, David Walker, Sylvia Shurtleff, Mary Mallory and Gerald York. She was predeceased by her first husband, Hassell Norris in 1966; and her second husband, Verrill Gilmore in 1993. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Brewer, with the Rev. Dr. George E. Curtis III, pastor, presiding.
