FORT KENT – Fernando Theriault, 88, died Dec. 27, 2005, at a Madawaska healthcare facility. He was born March 12, 1917, in Fort Kent, the son of Victor and Modeste (Deschaine) Theriault. Fernando’s employment began at a very young age helping to support his family. He worked for many years in his beloved Northern Maine woods where he earned his reputation as an honest, hardworking man. He was also employed at the Fort Kent Starch Factory and the University of Maine at Fort Kent as a night watchman. Some of his favorite past times were, gardening, hunting, fishing cutting wood and mowing the lawn. He especially loved using his snowblower, often helping neighbors in need of digging out. It seems fitting that he waited to pass only after our first big snow of the season. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family, neighbors and also his newly acquired family at Ridgewood Estates, where he received the best of care until the very end. Fernando is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jeannette (Michaud); two sons, Fernando Jr. “Pete” and his wife, Cecile, of Terryville, Conn., Roland and his wife, Bernice, of Plainville, Conn.; seven daughters, Rolande Roy of Plainville, Conn., Janis Theriault of Yarmouth, Anita Dionne of Rockyhill, Conn., Pauline Nadeau and her husband, Bertrand, of Clair, N.B., Rena Campagna of Bristol, Conn., Theresa Michaud and her companion, Rejean of Grand Falls, N.B. and Christine Chasse and her husband, Dan, of Fort Kent; two sisters, Artheline Paradis of Bristol, Conn. and Cora Cleveland of Indianapolis, Ind.; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
