SEARSPORT – Ferne E. (Howard) Krienke, 79, died March 15, 2004, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 20, 1925, in Belfast, the daughter of Raymond M. and Florence B. (Benson) Howard. Ferne was a kind, gracious lady who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed cooking and was well known for her peanut butter fudge. She was extremely thoughtful, always sending cards and notes of gratitude to friends and family. She enjoyed shopping, eating out, watching the birds, gardening, and beginning each day with a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed. Ferne is survived by her five children, Gail Sanborn and husband, Donnie, of Swanville, Judy Kienow and husband, Dennis, of Monroe, Dale Krienke and wife, Rose, of Orland, Patricia Vose and husband, Jack, of Belmont, Cheryl Clark and husband, Steven, of Stockton Springs; 11 grandchildren, Bion Sanborn and wife, Jill, Holly Nealley and husband, Ken, Todd Kienow and wife, Rita, Tony Conners and wife, Dawn, Trudy Blackstone and husband, Scott, Jason Krienke, Nick Krienke and wife, Naiome, Tracy Patterson and husband, Brandon, Timmy Vose, Kierra Barrett, Steven Clark; 22 great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Nellie Howard, Jeanette Clark and husband, Robert, Eudora “Dody” Perkins and husband, Merle; one brother, Vaughn Howard and wife, Norma; several nieces and nephews. Ferne was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Krienke; sisters, Winifred “Whinnie” Casey, Ella Rogers; and brother, Linwood “Doc” Howard. A gathering of conversation and refreshment to celebrate Ferne’s life will be held 1-4 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the home of Judy and Dennis Kienow, 6 Twombley Road, Route 139, Monroe. Spring interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Searsport. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ferne’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
