ORONO – Filomena “Phyllis” A. Niznik, 96, beloved wife of John A. Niznik, passed away in peace Saturday, Aug. 24, 2008. She was born May 18, 1912, in New Bedford, Mass. Phyllis enjoyed a career in manufacturing and was the proud manager of Elco dress factory, Massachusetts. She dedicated her life to helping others and touched many lives of those both two and four legged. Phyllis is survived by her son, Kenneth Niznik of Bangor; granddaughter, Stephanie Niznik of California; grandson, David Niznik and his wife, Jacqueline, of Wells; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brian and Andrew. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 9-11 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Brookings-Smith, LaBeau Chapel, 72 Main St., Orono. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor, with the Rev. Thomas Lequin pastor, presider. Interment will be private.
