MILLINOCKET and PORT ORANGE, Fla. Madelyn F. Gonya, 83, wife of the late Robert A. Gonya, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Millinocket. She was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Millinocket, the daughter of John and Eliza (Hopkins) Willett. Madelyn worked for 15 years in the Millinocket town office, serving in a variety of roles. She is survived by two children, Judy Leet and her husband, Robert, and Robert Gonya, all of Millinocket; two grandchildren, Brian Gee and his wife, Linda, of Falmouth and Amy Anderson and her husband, Dan, of Millinocket; three great-grandchildren, Acadia and Athena Gee and Makayla Anderson; a brother, John Willett of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Irene Pickles of East Windsor, Conn., and Phyllis Lynch and her husband, Don, of Manchester; a brother-in-law, Paul Gonya of Gorham; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband of 54 years, Madelyn was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Boynton and Evelyn O’Donnell. Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Millinocket Cemetery with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck officiating. Family and friends are invited to the home of Robert and Judy Leet, 17 Maple St., Millinocket, after the services for refreshments and conversation.
