BAR HARBOR – Flora “Sis” M. Robbins, 89, died Dec. 17, 2006, with her family by her side at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Steuben, the daughter of Lester and Violet (Smith) Young. She graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1935 and from Wilfred Academy of hairdressing in 1936. Sis was a longtime resident of Bar Harbor. She was employed at Jackson Lab for many years and by Testa’s Restaurant in Bar Harbor and Florida. Sis enjoyed being with her family and friends and met each day with a smile. She is survived by one son, Edwin W. Robbins Jr. of Colonial Heights, Va.; three daughters, Sally Vardamis of Lawrenceville, Ga., Abbie Savage of Northeast Harbor and Mary Jane and her husband, Adam Piccirillo, of Hampden; 12 grandchildren and their families, Debra Slauther of Chester, Va., Butch Robbins of Stockbridge, Ga., Vickie Turney of Colonial Heights, Va., Katrina Lewis of West Palm Beach, Fla., Rhonda Renich of Stewart, Fla., Laura Leonard of Greenwich, Conn., Tom Savage of Mount Desert, Roger Blackmer of Hampden, Robert Blackmer of Phoenix, Ariz., Todd Rosenberg of Hillsboro, N.H., Tony Rosenberg of San Antonio, Texas and Tom Rosenberg of Youngsville, Pa.; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Sis was predeceased by her brother, Linnell Young; and a grandson, Scott Robbins. Friends are invited to call 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. with the Rev. Mary-Carol Griffin.
