LUBEC – Florence Dean Fitzsimmons died Nov. 22, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at home. She was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Seal Cove, Grand Manan, New Brunswick. She was one of six children to Irving and Rena (Wilcox) Ramsdell. Her family moved to Lubec in the 1930s. She married Charles H. Fitzsimmons in 1946. She worked for many years in the fish processing industries in Lubec. She loved living close to the ocean. She enjoyed walking on the beach picking up sea glass and the times she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She and her husband raised four children. She is survived by her daughters, Una Hatch and her husband, William, of Bucksport, Maureen Albee and her husband, Brian, of East Machias; a son, Daniel and his wife, Noreen, of Lubec; and a daughter-in-law, Sally Fitz-simmons of Whiting. She is also survived by a brother, Barry Cox and wife, Cindy; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, with number nine on the way. Additionally, she is survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Henry Fitzsimmons Sr.; a son, Charles Henry Fitzsimmons Jr.; an infant brother, Kenneth; brother, Austin Ramsdell; sisters, Belva (Rams-dell) Cox, Frieda (Ramsdell) Cook and Una Ramsdell. She was also predeceased by her “Prayer Warrior,” Betty Rier. She will be missed dearly by her traveling buddy, Christine Ramsdell and many other friends in Down East Maine and New Brunswick. Friends may visit 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Christian Temple Church, Lubec, with the Rev. Betty Duzen officiating. Interment will be after at Greenlawn Cemetery, Lubec. The family would like to thank you for your support and genuine sympathy during these most difficult times.
