CASTINE – Frances Campbell Cooke, born in 1920, in Foxboro, Mass., daughter of Mary Elizabeth and Everett Ford, died Nov. 12, 2007, surrounded by her family, at her home in Florida. She married Ronald Cooke more than 63 years ago. She attended Walnut Hill School, Natick, Mass., Smith College, and graduated from the Yale School of Nursing with a master’s degree. She had five children, Heidi, Bari, Tracy, Benjamin and Rufus, whose educational experiences were greatly benefited by her. She and several others helped to start a school dedicated to educating the underprivileged, disabled and minorities from seventh to 12th-grade in Connecticut. As a volunteer at the Institute of Living, Hartford, Conn., she worked with autistic children. She loved golf, skiing, the arts and the beauty in nature. She was beloved by her nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in June in her beloved town of Castine. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Walnut Hill School or Hope Hospice.
