BREWER – Florence L. (Jellison) Scripture, 91, went to be with our Lord, April 13, 2004, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Hermon, the daughter of Elmer and Doris (Hammond) Jellison. Florence’s main interest was her family and beloved dog Barney. She enjoyed TV soap opera’s, game shows, and cribbage. For many years Florence enjoyed making crazy patchwork quilts, especially baby quilts. She is survived by one son, Carleton M. Scripture and his wife, Frances, of Colorado; three daughters, Jean Marie Scripture, Sheila R. and her husband, John Lewia, and Carolyn Daisy Scripture, all of Brewer; one daughter-in-law, Eva Scripture of Newburgh; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Light of Hermon; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Merle J. Scripture; two sons, Gerald and Earle Scripture; one sister, Frances Hamm. The family would like to thank the staff of Bangor Visiting Nurses, Hospice of Eastern Maine, Dr. Gary Ross and Dr. Adam Lauer, for all their care and consideration in their time of need. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, with the Rev. Randall Wilbur, officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon.
